$4,000 worth of solar panels stolen from Nanaimo Foodshare
NANAIMO — In what’s being called a “brazen” theft, solar panels from the Nanaimo Foodshare were stolen right off their roof.
Paul Manly, a coordinator with Foodshare, said they were taken at roughly 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 from the roof portion facing Pine St.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was stunned when I heard, I was really upset and quite angry about it. It’s a really brazen theft.”
Each of the four panels weighs 50 lbs. and costs $1,000. Manly said whoever took them must have climbed up with ladders, disconnected the panels and taken them down without anyone from the busy road noticing.
