Aug 16, 2017 | 4:10 PM

NANAIMO — BC Corrections is reviewing how an inmate escaped custody while attending his mother’s funeral in Port Alberni.

The B.C. Ministry of Justice confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW BC Corrections officials are looking into the case of David Blackmore, 45, who was recaptured three days after he walked out the back door of a Port Alberni church on August 1.

Port Alberni RCMP Cpl. Amelia Hayden said there was a 25-minute delay between when Blackmore was known to be missing and when their detachment was notified.

The Ministry of Justice isn’t answering questions about the review as the process is ongoing.
