NANAIMO — It’s time to batten down the hatches.

According to Environment Canada, winds as high as 70 km/h will whip along the East coast of Vancouver Island Tuesday afternoon and evening. Their special weather statement about the winds stretches from Duncan to Fanny Bay.

Meteorologist Cindy Yu said people should also brace themselves for cooler temperatures after the wind moves through the area.
