NANAIMO — A Victoria man has been charged following an alleged violent home invasion in Nanaimo’s south-end.

Nanaimo RCMP said Ashley Baird, 33, forced his way into a Haliburton St. home on April 20 with a shotgun. He then allegedly tied up the people inside and assaulted them.

Baird was arrested in Victoria on April 25, according to RCMP. They said he was found with meth, heroin, fentanyl and a fake handgun.

Mounties allege they found a shotgun and zap straps believed to have been used in the home invasion in Baird’s home after he was arrested.
