Nanaimo RCMP at NDSS for bomb threat

Mar 17, 2017 | 9:55 AM

NANAIMO — Students at Nanaimo District Secondary School had their bags searched by staff and RCMP this morning, March 17, due to a bomb threat.

Dale Burgos, director of communications for the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District, said the threat came in yesterday, March 16, but was for today.

RCMP were called to search the school at the time. Nothing was found and Burgos said it was a “non-credible” threat.

“However, today, in an abundance of caution we’re looking at having a plan with heightened security at the school,” he said.
