NANAIMO — The Senior A Timbermen have announced the addition of Junior Tmen alumni Dane Sorensen.

The 22-year-old has been acquired from the New Westminster Salmonbellies in exchange for the 10th overall pick in the 2017 draft.

Sorensen scored 20 goals and 13 assists in his 18 game WLA rookie campaign.

He also added six points in five playoff appearances for the Bellies.

The Victoria native was drafted 13th overall by the Salmonbellies in 2016, but has long been a player coveted by the Timbermen braintrust.

Sorensen’s Junior career included stops in Victoria, New Westminster and Nanaimo, with 121 points in 56 games along the way.

In two his seasons with the Junior A Timbermen in 2014 and 2015 Sorensen had 85 points in 30 games.

The right hander was also selected in the 2015 National Lacrosse League Draft 45th overall by the Colorado Mammoth.

In field lacrosse the newest member of the Tmen earned a scholarship to Florida Southern University where he earned All American honours playing attack for the Moccasins.

He still holds the school’s scoring record with 175 career goals.

The addition of Sorensen should help improve the team’s scoring and right side offense for the 2017 season.

This is the third move by the Timbermen in the past two weeks as they look to solidify their plans for the 2017 WLA Draft on Feb 16.
