10 cm of snow possible for Nanaimo region before arctic front moves out
NANAIMO — It looks like Nanaimoites are going to have to deal with one last blast of snow before an arctic front sitting on the region finally blows away.
Environment Canada has issued another special weather statement, something that has become somewhat routine over the last two weeks.
“A Pacific front reaching the British Columbia coast tonight will spread snow to the south coast. Snow will continue through Sunday,” stated the bulletin, issued by the weather agency late Saturday morning.
Snowfall will vary widely depending on elevation, but the statement is calling for anywhere from five to 15 cm of snow in Nanaimo by Sunday evening. That’s when Environment Canada is calling for some relief from the arctic system that has been gripping much of the region for nearly two weeks.
