Multi-day RCMP manhunt ends after arrest in Whiskey Creek

PARKSVILLE — A man who police have been actively searching for since Wednesday west of Parksville has been found.

Oceanside RCMP say they arrested 26-year-old Brandon Madill in Whiskey Creek on Friday morning.

He was arrested on two outstanding warrants and is facing several charges ahead of a court appearance scheduled in Nanaimo on Monday, according to Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman.

Oceanside police earlier reported that a male suspect was spotted by police twice on Wednesday at properties in Errington and then later in Whiskey Creek. However he ran off both times, leading to the manhunt.

A police helicopter was called in to briefly help in the search. So were police dogs. In their original release, police described Madill as a “chronic, prolific offender”.
