Trial dates set for accused Nanaimo drive-by shooters

NANAIMO — Two men accused of trying to kill another in a brazen daylight drive-by shooting in Nanaimo are scheduled to go to trial next year.

18-year-old Armaan Chandi of Surrey and 19-year-old Inderpal Aujla of Mission are scheduled for a two week trial in Provincial Court in Nanaimo starting on May 23.

The men, who both plead not guilty to several charges including attempted murder, have elected to be tried by judge alone.

Chandi and Aujla were granted bail in April, just over a month after bullets sprayed a car parked on Wakesiah Avenue where police say the target was not hurt.
