NANAIMO — Charges have been laid against a man who allegedly robbed a Nanaimo liquor store with a gun and threw a female clerk to the floor.

Nanaimo RCMP report Chase Peter Goodale, 28, was arrested in a vehicle Saturday, Jan. 18 outside a south Nanaimo motel.

Police said Goodale was bitten several times by a police dog during his arrest and received medical treatment for his wounds.

Charges of robbery and theft under $5,000 were approved by Crown Counsel in relation to the brazen Jan. 15 incident at the Quarterway Liquor Store on Bowen Rd.

Goodale is accused of threatening a female clerk with a gun then allegedly tossing her to the ground during the daytime heist.

The clerk was shaken but not injured, according to police.

Nanaimo Mounties said numerous items from the Quarterway Liquor Store were allegedly found during the weekend arrest and seized by police as evidence.

Court records show Goodale was released following a Monday, Jan. 20 bail hearing in Nanaimo.

Goodale’s next scheduled appearance is on Feb. 11, 2020.
