CAMPBELL RIVER — Police in Campbell River say they found a large stash of guns and ammo at the home of a man accused of pointing a pistol at an off-duty Mountie.

Campbell River RCMP said the off-duty officer was riding his bike in a large recreation area in the middle of town on the morning of Jan. 28 when he came upon a man searching for his dog.

“The officer entered back into the trails to assist the man looking for the lost dog,” a news release said.

“At this point the officer met the man, who was enraged about his dog that had just gone missing. The officer said he was there to help but instead the man allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the officer.”
