Obituary
Helen Ewan Williams of Qualicum Beach died on February 13, 2020 after a short illness. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Helen practiced her profession of Registered Nurse and midwife in her birthplace of Australia and after her immigration to Canada in 1958. She provided medical services over several years to the Inuit of Puvirnituq in the part of northern Quebec now known as Nunavik. Subsequently she served in several communities in northern Ontario before her finial posting as the Zone Regional Nursing officer in Whitehorse, where she managed nursing services for the entire Yukon.
Helen retired from her Whitehorse position in 1984 and spent the remainder of her life in the Parksville/ Qualicum area where she was able to indulge in her passion for golf and to enjoy the company of the many friends that she made in the course of many enjoyable rounds. As an avid outdoor person Helen enjoyed fishing, skiing and camping. She and her friends enjoyed many world travels.
She is mourned by her relatives in Australia Karen, Ben, Jarrod and Dylan; Debbie; Gavin, Helen and Mitchell Williams. In addition, she will be missed by her long-time friend Penny White in Australia as well as many Canadian friends and colleagues.
A celebration of her life and a salute to Helen will take place March 20, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Qualicum Memorial Golf Course and everyone that knew Helen will be welcomed.
