Ronald Warren West, August 8, 1944 – February 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Warren West on February 25 , 2026 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, at the age of 81, He faced his kidney disease quietly and courageously until the end. A homesteader, farmer, fisherman, and public servant with Public Works and Government Services Canada, Ron loved the land, the lake, the ocean, and to fish—and he loved to travel. Above all, he was a partner, father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and a friend—always there when you needed him. Born August 8, 1944, in Camrose, Alberta, to George and Margie West—the oldest of five children He is survived by his loving partner Marge; his children Crystal, Cheryl (Dave),and Scott; his granddaughter Juliana; his sister Diane (Gary) and brother Andy. He was predeceased by his brothers Dale and Don and his parents George and Margie A celebration of Ron”s life will be held on April 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Brechin United Church in Nanaimo 2020 Estevan Rd. His final resting place will be at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
