Obituary
Bill passed away peacefully on March 11, 2020 while in care at Stanford Seniors Village at 91 years of age. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; companion, Dorothy Curry; and older brother, Chuck. He is survived by daughter, Vicki and her husband, Dan; son, Doug and his wife, Laureen and their family; and sister, Joyce Pitman and family.
Bill and Shirley moved their young family from Burnaby, BC in 1963 to operate the Esso Oil bulk plant and agency in Parksville and were soon well known to the community. Before finally retiring, Bill also worked for the Liquor Control Branch, local cement and construction companies, and at Rathtrevor Provincial Park.
Bill enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, lawn bowling, walking the many trails in the area, and of course eating fish and chips and drinking beer with his buddies!
The family wishes to acknowledge the kind attention Bill received from the staff of Stanford Seniors Village in his final days.
At Bill’s request, a formal ceremony will not be held, but the family may hold a less formal event at a later date, following cremation. Anyone wishing to honour his memory may do so by making a donation to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
