Vivian Marie Trugeon, March 7, 1952 – January 11, 2026
Vivian Marie Turgeon passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Nanoose Bay, on January 11, 2026. She was 73 years old. During her year-long journey with cancer, Vivian faced illness with extraordinary courage, grace, and unwavering optimism—qualities that defined her entire life. Vivian had a rare gift: she truly saw people. She listened deeply, believed fiercely, and made others feel known, capable, and valued. Her warmth was immediate, her curiosity genuine, and her encouragement life-changing for many. To be in Vivian’s presence was to feel welcomed, affirmed, and gently challenged to become more fully yourself. Born on March 7, 1952, in Leoville, Saskatchewan, to Josephat (“Jeff”) Turgeon and Delores “Del” (née Matte), Vivian grew up in nearby Spiritwood. After moving to Prince George, BC as a teenager, she carried the prairies with her always—the resilience of a farmer’s daughter, a deep respect for the land, and an unshakeable work ethic. A woman of intellect and entrepreneurial spirit, Vivian trained as a CPA and co-founded Northern Registry Services, an all-female land title and documentation business. At 50, she studied web design and went on to co-found Artistech Newmedia, where she worked until her retirement. Vivian believed in civic life and service. She volunteered on municipal, provincial, and federal political campaigns across party lines, served on the board of the College of New Caledonia, and later volunteered with Al-Anon and at the Nanaimo Correctional Centre, supporting individuals living with addiction. She believed in dignity, redemption, and meaningful community engagement. Family and friends were central to Vivian’s life. She nurtured deep connections with friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and the younger generations she affectionately called “the Great Greats”. Vivian shared a loving life with her husband, Graham Farstad. She is also survived by her children Geoff Ingram and Erika Ingram (Craig; son Kipp); her stepchildren Tyler Farstad (Alexis; children Harlow and Jasper) and Kaija Farstad (sons Thomas and Ben); her sisters Ida, Annette, Simone, and Claudette; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nanoose Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Marine Trails, an organization Vivian volunteered with and supported: https://www.bcmarinetrails.org/donate/.
