ROBERT LOREN THOMPSON – March 31, 1942 to April 7, 2021
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the loss of Robert Loren Thompson who passed away on April 7, 2021 with his loved ones by his side at the age of 79 years.
Robert will be remembered by sister Kathryn, brother John, daughter Christine (Jason), son Keith (Sierra), grandson Noah, nephew Richard, and nieces Alex and Alanna. He will also be remembered by his small circle of human and animal friends.
Robert was predeceased by his mother and father, Lloyd Douglas and Mabel Annie Thompson.
Robert was born in Bella Bella and spent his early years living in Quebec, Alberta, and Comox, British Columbia. He spent the remainder of his life living in various towns on Vancouver Island.
Robert will be remembered by many as being an interesting storyteller, having strong opinions, and especially as someone who had enormous respect and love for animals, birds, and the environment. He was spiritual, an avid reader and learner, and had progressive ideas and ways of living well before his time. He lived his latter years as a minimalist and did all he could to make sure how he lived had only a small impact on the environment.
At Robert’s request, there will not be a service. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the David Suzuki Foundation or the BC SPCA.
