Nell Cornelia Oud – January 3rd, 1926 – April 3rd, 2024

It is with sad spirits and heavy hearts that we the Oud Family announce the passing of our dear mother Nell Cornelia Oud on April 03rd 2024 Born in Obdam, the Netherlands to Janje and Petrus Van Velzen on January 03rd 1926. She is predeceased by her husband and children’s father George Oud who passed away in April 1983 as well a daughter Lia Yakelashek who passed in August of 1988. She leaves behind 7 of her children. Kathie Oud, Johanna McCullough (Brian), John Oud (Cheryl), Pete Oud (Lisa), Jack Oud (Nora), George Oud (Janice) and Ken Oud. As well as numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands She was the last surviving immediate family member of the large 14 member Van Velzen family Mom and her husband immigrated from the Netherlands in July of 1956 on a three-week journey with 6 of their children aged 6 years down to 8 months, and what a journey it was. Across the Atlantic and then by Train all the way to Vancouver Island. Mom was an absolute bubble of a person and of course everyone loved her and her dancing. She and Dad both worked for the school board as well as other family members She will be sadly missed but she had a good life There will be a private internment and then a Celebration of Life on April 27th In the Basement at St. Peters Church on Machleary Street @ 1pm Please no flowers Make donations to your favorite charity instead.
