It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Nenzel-Knight, wife, sister, aunt, great-aunt, stepmother, and friend. Jude was born on September 26, 1945, in Calgary, AB. She passed away peacefully on the morning of April 30 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Jude will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Terry Knight; her sister, Sr. Andrea Nenzel; her step children, Dale (Mary), Cheri (Les); her nieces and nephews, Christy, Jeremy (Rida), Kim (Andre), George, Richard (Colleen), Steven (Tracey), Mary, Barb, Debbie (Michael), Doug (Darlena), Greg, and Phillip; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Jude was predeceased by her parents, Janet and George Nenzel, brother David Nenzel, sisters Mary Willmek and Janet MacDougall, and nephew Andrew MacDougall. Jude was a social worker at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for many years. She was very generous with her time, and she devoted her life to helping others. In her retirement, Jude continued to be actively involved in helping her community, and she volunteered her time working with the Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank in Nanaimo. She had a very adventurous spirit. Jude and Terry shared a love of sailing, and they spent many summers exploring the Vancouver Island coastline, and the Gulf Islands on their sailboat. Shortly after getting married, and prior to settling in the Nanaimo area, Jude and Terry lived and worked in Inuvik, Northwest Territories for a couple of years. They also lived on Protection Island for several years, commuting daily by boat to Nanaimo for work. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 6224 Spartan Rd, Nanaimo, at 11:00am on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Reception to follow in church hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Jude’s name to either the Island Crisis Care Society (ICCS), or a charity of your choice.
