DECEMBER 27, 1947 ~ AUGUST 28, 2018 (AGE 70)
Andrew (“Andy”) Angus Murray, 70, left us on August 28th, 2018 with his family by his side at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
Andy was born December 27th, 1947, in High River, Alberta, the youngest of three children. In 1965 he graduated from Strathcona Composite High School in Edmonton before joining the RCMP in 1968. Andy proudly served 38 years with the RCMP starting his career in Chilliwack where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara. Andy and Barb, had one child together while travelling to various communities throughout Western Canada during Andy’s career and building close ties with friends along the way.
Andy was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners and volunteered selflessly of his time to community events and charity organizations. He was invited to join the Royal Order of Scotland to which he graciously accepted. He was an avid golfer, gardener and loved a fine scotch with friends. He was a friend to all who met him.
Andy is survived by his wife, Barbara (Drury) of 46 years, their son Aaron (wife Courtenay), his sister Ann Delveris (husband Uldis), his brother Hugh (wife Patricia), grandson Ashton, dog Harley, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Angus and mother Jennie (Thomson) and brother-in-law Gary Homer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville. Those wishing to honour Andy’s memory may do so by making a donation to the BC Shriners Hospital for Children at www.bcshriners.com.
