Obituary
“Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.” On March 12, 2020 at 7:45am James Sidney Morris’s roll ran out. He peacefully passed surrounded by his loving family in the Nanaimo Palliative Care Unit. His family made sure that he got one last taste of his preferred beer. Currently, as he sails into the sunset on his beloved boat, The Ramu, unshowered and unshaven, this old fisherman is no doubt back to doing what he loves.
As a hoarder, Captain Sidney has left behind a whole lot of stuff that his family has no idea what to do with. So if you are looking for any size of rusty bolt, 1000’s of really really old tools, hoochies, flashers, and much more, you should wait the appropriate amount of time and get in touch. Tomorrow would be fine.
This is not an ad for a pawn shop but an obituary for a great man, husband, father and grandpa, he leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that he was extremely proud of. He was a great provider and protector taking in strays along the way. But most of all, he had a huge heart, and was selfless in every way.
Jim was well known for being directionally challenged and full of humour right till the end. Often heard asking, “How much did you pay for those? Well you could of bought a new pair for that!” The man had an iron gut like no other. Eating expired food and not washing his hands “don’t want to wash away the good bugs” he would say.
It is a great loss for this endangered species, one of the last of the do-it-yourself men. Jimmy could build you a house, fix your car, renovate your business, as he did for his oldest daughter more times that he probably wanted to, you name it, he could do it.
He will be sorely missed and is survived by his wife Joanne, daughters Tammy (Justice), Tanya (Andrew), stepsons Raye (Tracy), Randy, Ronnie, grandchildren True, Sienna, Tristan, Joshua, Adrienne, Amanda, Miranda, Mariah and great grandson Bruin.
Born on August 29th, 1942 in Sidney, BC, the son of Cliff and Mary Morris. He was predeceased by his brothers Bud (Georgina) Sonny (Eileen), sister (Genevieve)
He had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and more friends than you could imagine. He was truly loved by all even though he was allergic to antiperspirant.
And finally, as he always said at the end of every phone call, “Bye for now.”
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 2pm on Morris Mountain at 255 Fourneau Way, Parksville , BC.
