MARCH 17, 1929 ~ SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 (AGE 89)
Cherished mom, Baba and Superbaba passed away peacefully early Monday morning, September 17th, 2018. Daughters Debby, Judy and Tammy had been at her bedside, and their reminiscing, laughter, and quiet tears were all comforting and calming for her.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, George and Alice Federuk; sister, Rose Vollet; and brother, Orest Federuk. She is survived by her children, Debby Schlivert of Elbow, SK, Judy (Andrew) Smith of Parksville, BC, and Tammy Desrosiers of Fernie, BC; grandchildren, Warren (Leanne) Schlivert, Robin Smith, Chad (Monique) Gessner, Anne Schlivert, Kim (Sherry) Gessner, Taylor (Taryn) Smith, Zachary Traverse and Madison Traverse; great-grandchildren, Tess, Chloe, Gage, Ashton, Jasper, Tate, Macy, Sloane and Logan.
Growing up in Edmonton, Irene was one of the first Eskimo cheerleaders and was very proud to have been able to attend the first ever Eskimo Cheer team reunion in 2009. Never being one to sit still, Irene had many successful businesses over her lifetime, starting with the Rose House where her eye for design and her creative talents served her well! Her love of flowers remained for life and she was always picking flowers and arranging bouquets to pass along to anyone who needed a bit of cheer.
She was a graceful, glamorous lady who made friends wherever she went. She leaves a legacy of loving family to carry on her sentiment that “family is everything”. Rest in peace dear heart, free from pain and confusion. Know all who read this that your itchy, tingly nose is just Irene stopping by to say “I love you”.
