Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mom, Gramma, and GG – Audrey Erickson. She passed away on Monday, March 2nd surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was born in Barnet, BC on January 30, 1928. She moved to Port Alberni in 1935 were she later met and married Einar Erickson. They soon started their family and made Port Alberni their home and where they raised their family. Mom and Dad provided a warm and open home, and all were welcome.
Mom and Dad retired to Buckley Bay in 1985 but found they missed the family and moved back to build a home on Maple Street where they had many happy years. She lived a full life filled with boating, camping, travelling to many different places. Most of all Mom cherished her time with family and friends. She loved being outside, immaculately taking care of her property, home, and big garden while at the same time creating some of the most delicious family meals. She could do it all! She will always be remembered for her homemade bread and goodies and was fondly referred to as “cookie Gramma” and had a “cookie fence” the neighbourhood children would come to for a cookie and a visit.
Gibraltar Island and the Broken Group always held a special place in her heart where many summers were spent with her family and close friends.
Mom was known for her big heart and spent many years volunteering at the Beaufort School, the Hospital Auxiliary, and Fir Park Village, where years later she resided happily, so it came full circle. She will always be missed for her caring, gentle ways by the many people whose lives she touched.
In 2007, Mom was predeceased by Einar, her husband of 61 years; son, Raymond in 2000; and great grandson, Colton in 2000.
She will be missed by her son, Gordon (Linda); daughter, Christine (Allan Lowe); son, Stephen (Juanita); grandchildren, Leanne (Andre), Kevin (Tiffany), Brian (Christine, Craig, Donna, Cindy (Scott), Kara, Todd (Tess); 18 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
We want to thank the staff from Heritage Place and Fir Park Village for their exceptional care. Also, the staff at West Coast General Hospital and Dr. Marc Puts who did an awesome job of extending Mom’s life for the last several years and helped her pass in peace.
Mom’s life message would be to love your family with all you have and hold each other tight. We will miss you, until we see your beautiful, beaming smile and sparkling eyes again.
If you so wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation to BC Children’s Hospital could be made in Mom’s memory.
