Laura Louise Eaton – November 4th, 1957 – January 8th, 2024
In Loving Memory of Laura Louise Eaton November 4, 1957 – January 8, 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Laura Eaton. Despite her courageous fight against breast cancer, Laura peacefully departed in the early hours of January 8, 2024, at Nanaimo General Hospital. She was surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and friends during her final days. Born in North Vancouver to Arthur and Alva Eaton, Laura’s childhood was filled with joy in Deep Cove. The family cabin, fondly known as ‘camp,’ nestled along the Indian Arm inlet, provided a backdrop for countless happy moments shared with extended `family. As an adult, Laura became a jet setter, exploring the world and residing in Australia, and working aboard cruise ships with her best friend Julianne. It was during this time that she met her former husband, Costantino (Dino), and together they moved to his hometown of Torre del Greco, Italy. Laura and Dino returned to Vancouver, where they welcomed two beautiful children, Francesca and Marcus, eventually settling in Nanaimo. Laura had a long career in finance with the provincial government and was considered a friend and mentor to many of her colleagues. Laura is survived by her children Marcus (Emily) and Francesca (Evan), and siblings Brenda (Jack), Carol, Rex (Andrea), Bruce (Betty), and Bob (Annette). She also leaves behind numerous adored nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses, health care assistants, and volunteers in palliative care who provided comfort and compassion, ensuring Laura felt safe and at peace. A celebration of Laura’s vibrant life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Bowen Park Complex in Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Laura’s memory to the North Island
