AUGUST 17, 1932 ~ JUNE 4, 2018 (AGE 85)
With her loving family by her side Betty Ann Cordiner passed away June 4, 2018. Betty was born in Toronto in 1932 where she raised her three children Alison, James and Ruth. She worked as a Special Education Teacher, a job she loved, until retiring to Qualicum Beach in 1994. In retirement Betty kept busy playing sports with her PGOSA friends and volunteering at a number of community organizations. Betty was a baseball player, golfer, volleyball player, curler, past President of PGOSA, scrabble player, crossword wizard, and butter tart maker extraordinaire. She also loved to travel, sail and learn new languages. Betty was a tremendous athlete throughout her life and was still playing baseball into her eighties. She treasured her family and loved nothing more than spending time with them in her beautiful home. Mom’s last year was extremely difficult but she faced it like she did everything else with dignity and courage. Betty’s family will be forever grateful to her partner Bruno, for the love and tireless care that he gave to our mother. She will be deeply missed by her children Alison (Richard), James (Sarah), Ruth (Michael), her grandchildren Max, Ethan, Jakob, Benji and Molly, her loving partner Bruno, her close friend and ex-husband Douglas and her many friends and teammates. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Eagle Park for their care and support. A celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Saturday July 14, 2018 between 1:00-4:00pm at Betty’s home. Donations can be made to the ALS society or the Canadian Red Cross.
