Brian Daniel Collen – February 13th, 1958 – January 31st, 2024
On January 31, 2024 the world lost an incredible man, Brian Daniel Collen. A man with no shortage of character, humour, dignity, determination, stoicism, humility, kindness, a true gentleman with a huge heart. A man who belonged to no one stereotype yet was welcomed everywhere he went. A fighter who was not given a fighting chance and left this world too soon at a mere 65 years young. In his final chapter he married a woman with whom they built a life founded on passion, trust and unconditional love, with a healthy dose of chaos. In time they welcomed a daughter into this world, their little wolf-pup Aylen. He is dearly missed by his: wife Kristina; three children Raechelle, Maya and Aylen; mother Georgie, father Dan and wife Anne; siblings Tracy and Keith; along with extended family and friends. Adventure, diversity and a profound love of nature together wove a truly unique narrative that was his beautiful life. He tried his hand at many careers – in farming, a trapeze artist, oil field, heavy duty mechanic, working in North Africa, and multi-day sea kayak entrepreneur and guide. He devoted his final decade to the company and staff of Knight Inlet Lodge, grizzly bear ecotourism and conservation, a job that really fulfilled him. All those who befriended him, worked alongside him, knew him – came to respect and admire him. We are all grieving for his unexpected loss, and will come together to celebrate his life in the Spring
