May 1, 1942 ~ December 7, 2019 (age 77)
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved husband, Bill from cancer on Saturday, December 7, 2019. He has been the joy of my life.
Bill loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Bill (Lisa), Doug, Andy (Renee). Carol (Brad), and Bob (Josie). Bill was blessed with grandchildren, Bailli, Tess, Robbie, Caileigh, Evan and Neil and great grandchildren, Adyln and Chloe.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Bill grew up in Vancouver where he lived until moving to Port Alberni in 1962 to work in the pulp mill. He would regale his “mill stories” to anyone who would listen, causing is wife, Joan, to wonder when they made any paper! As Santa’s Helper, Bill came into his own. Many times throughout his life, Bill’s booming “Ho Ho Ho” delighted children and adults alike. He made friends wherever he went. Bill, at one time, belonged to the Port Alberni Kinsmen Club.
I thank our family and special friends, Carol, Kenny, and David for their loving support of Bill and I throughout our life together. I praise and give thanks to God for the love and prayers of my church family at First Baptist Church, Pastor Bill Cottrill, and the caregivers who looked after Bill and I during these past weeks.
I often told Bill, “You are a good man, Charlie Brown” and he was – loving, generous and kind, with a wonderful sense of honour. He will be greatly missed.
A quiet family celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
