JANUARY 27, 1935 ~ MARCH 6, 2019 (AGE 84)
Our family is heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our dear Jim at home in the early morning of March 6th. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Vicky, his beloved son Brad and his wife Melinda, along with his cherished grandchildren, Josh and Nick. Jim so loved being a part of their lives. He is also survived by our much-loved family dog Snickers, who was Jim’s daily companion.
The special relationship Jim had with his Brother-in-law Michael Danyluk and his wife Cristina was very important and he deeply appreciated their presence in his life. They often traveled together and shared many special times. Family was paramount and the time spent with his nieces Dana, Kathrine, and Heather was also very important to him. He was always present to celebrate and share in the special moments in the lives of those close to him.
Jim was born in Calgary where he lived until his retirement. He had a life long affection for the West Coast and the family moved to Qualicum Beach in 1997. Prior to his retirement Jim worked for Alberta Government Telephones, now Telus, for 33 years. He began his career as an installer and advanced through the ranks. He retired as a Facilities Liaison in the Engineering Department working on large corporate projects ensuring that the logistical requirements for successful implementations were met.
Jim treasured the lasting friendships he established throughout his lifetime, both in Calgary and in the Oceanside Community. He was generous, always giving of his time and offering to help whenever and in any way he could. Jim was a gentle man with a constant smile and was a true gentleman. He was always kind, polite, considerate and an advocate of women rights. He had a tenacious determination to regain as much mobility as possible after his stroke in May of 2016. We are forever thankful that we have had the privilege of being a part of this extraordinary man’s life. Words cannot describe how much Jim will be missed.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 15th, 2019 at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
