Margaret was born and raised in Burnaby, BC where she attended Kingsway West School. She graduated in 1940 from Burnaby South High School. She enjoyed acrobatic dance and was trained in voice. Margaret married Bob Birchette on December 7, 1953 and moved to Coquitlam, BC in 1960 where the family lived until 1969 when they moved to northern BC, living in Houston and Prince George. Margaret and Bob moved back to the west coast in 1977 where they lived in Surrey and Cultus Lake. They finally moved to the Nanaimo/Parksville area in 1985. After Bob’s death in 1995, Margaret moved to an apartment in Parksville where she lived for some 20 years.
Margaret enjoyed many activities, including participating at Arbutus Grove Church, singing with the Sandpipers Choir and spending time with friends and her growing family of great grandchildren. Always an avid gardener, Margaret loved growing dahlias and roses. She maintained a patio garden at her Parksville apartment. She moved to Stanford Place Care Home in 2013, where she lived until her death.
A loving, caring mom, grandma, and great-grandma, a friend, she will be missed by all of us. She will always be in our hearts.
