Private records breached for more than 100 NRGH patients
NANAIMO — An Island Health employee no longer works for the health authority after breaching the privacy of more than 100 patients and clients at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
The health authority confirmed 102 people were impacted by the “unacceptable” situation and were notified their records were searched and accessed without appropriate authorization.
“The breach involved one employee and this individual is no longer associated with Island Health,” a statement read.
Health staff receive privacy training and renew their confidentiality agreements annually, the health authority said.
