Prolific Parksville graffiti tagger arrested again

Sep 21, 2018 | 12:42 PM

PARKSVILLE — A prolific local graffiti artist has been tagged with a mischief charge for allegedly defacing a restaurant sign in Parksville.

Oceanside RCMP said Tyler John McKinstry, 24, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 19 for mischief and breaching his probation conditions, which included not possessing any graffiti producing material.

In June, McKinstry was given one-year probation after he was convicted of two charges of mischief under $5,000 after ravaging Parksville with numerous graffiti taggings.

He was originally arrested on April 11 after police reported McKinstry spray painted and used jiffy markers to scrawl the phrase RONES on private and public properties throughout the Parksville area.
