Coastal adventures added to list of Canadian Signature Experiences

Jul 20, 2016 | 3:15 PM

VANCOUVER — An 11-day cruise off Canada’s East Coast and a seven-day hike on Vancouver Island are among new ocean-themed additions to Destination Canada’s list of Canadian Signature Experiences.

The Fins and Fiddles cruise offered by One Ocean Expeditions sails from Louisbourg, N.S., and includes visits to Sable Island, the Gaspe Peninsula, Iles-de-la-Madeleine and Charlottetown. (Details, including rates, are at bit.ly/29VS3YP.)

In B.C., Ecosummer Expeditions leads groups along the rugged West Coast Trail to explore 76 kilometres of old-growth rainforest and ocean shoreline (www.ecosummer.com/west-coast-trail).

Two other additions to the list also highlight coastal experiences:

— Bones Bay Lodge, a floating lodge in Knight Inlet off the northern coast of Vancouver Island, offers wildlife eco-tours. Guests are flown in via seaplane (www.bonesbaylodge.com).

— The Grizzly Bears of the Wild expedition, from Sea Wolf Adventures, takes guests by boat to explore the scenery and First Nations culture of northern Vancouver Island and coastal mainland B.C. (seawolfadventures.ca).

Destination Canada, a federal Crown corporation, markets Canadian Signature Experiences internationally. The list now includes 198 members.
