Clippers dominate Chiefs in home ice victory

NANAIMO — The Clippers had one of their most dominant games of the season in a 5-0 shutout victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs.

In a three minute span in the first period the Clippers got all the offence they would need.

Sam Boisvert, Indiana Grossbard and Tanner Bruender each hit the scoresheet with Nanaimo outshooting Chilliwack 20-5.

Miller Kay added a goal in the middle frame, picking up a goal for the third consecutive game.

Drew Roelofs capped the scoring in the third while Eliot Sequin-Lescarbeau earned a 21 save shutout.

Despite the low number of shots Sequin-Lescarbeau made a couple highlight reel stops to garner his fifth shutout of the season.

The shots finished 48-21 in Nanaimo’s favour with the Clippers going 0/5 on the power play and killing off Chilliwack’s only man advantage.

There are two games left in the regular season, both versus the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies and Alberni Valley Bulldogs are tied for third place in the Coastal West division and Nanaimo will play the higher seed in the BCHL playoffs starting on April 3 at Frank Crane Arena.

The Clippers host the Grizzlies on March 28 and travel to the Q Centre for the season finale on March 29.
