Brent William Gray, April 29, 1960 – January 21, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brent William Gray, who left us on January 21, 2026, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 29, 1960, in Port Alberni, BC, Brent spent the last several years of his life in Parksville, BC. He had a deep love for Vancouver Island—its beaches, its history, its golf courses, and especially the many show‑and‑shine events he attended throughout the years, fueled by his lifelong passion for Chevys. Brent cherished the simple joys in life: sharing good meals with family and friends, searching for antique treasures, or meeting up at Tim Hortons for coffee and heartfelt conversations. Brent dedicated his life to serving others through a long and meaningful career in the social sector.  His clients held a special place in his heart, and he approached his work with compassion, commitment, and integrity. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Robert (Bob) and Doris (Dot) Gray, as well as his brother Robert (Mickey) Gray. Brent is lovingly remembered by his daughter Breanna (Bree) Gray (Morgan); his sister Brenda (Gary) Mallard; his brother Grant (Jen) Gray; and his cherished nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Brent’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, care aides, and hospice staff at the palliative care unit at NRGH for their compassionate and attentive care.
