Four Straight Losses

Clippers drop both ends of home and home series with Grizzlies

VICTORIA — For the first time this season the Clippers have dropped four straight games.

The Victoria Grizzlies were responsible for three of those losses including a 6-4 decision on March 6 and a 3-2 outcome on March 7.

In the latest matchup Nanaimo had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but couldn’t secure the win.

Caden Okovita opened the scoring in a Clipper dominated first period in which they outshot the Grizzlies 16-8.

Reese Gault tied the game early in the second period on a delayed penalty call.

Sam Boisvert gave Nanaimo the lead again by scoring his 17th goal of the season.

A power play marker by Grizzlies leading scorer Artur Gross evcned the game up heading to the final frame.

Right on the heels of a Clippers power play Parker MacDougall came out of the penalty box and converted on a three on one rush.

MacDougall had three goals in two games over the weekend and was named the first star in both contests.

Special teams told a big part of the story as Nanaimo went 0/5 and Victoria scored on their only opportunity.

The Clippers outshot the Grizzles 41-30 with Eliot Seguin-Lescafbeau taking the loss against Victoria netminder Mikus Vecvanags.

Nanaimo sits in second place in the Coastal West division standings with a seven point lead on Victoria who have now jumped into third place ahead of Alberni Valley.

The Clippers have seven games remaining in their season including a six game home stand starting on March 13 versus the Bulldogs.

On March 28 and 29 the regular season will conclude with a home and home series between the Clippers and Grizzlies.
