QUALICUM BEACH — A new affordable housing facility on the edge of downtown Qualicum Beach is now open.

The Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs announced on Monday, July 7 the recent opening of Residences at Qualicum Station, a 56-unit complex at 136 Village Way W. in Qualicum Beach.

The independent living units include studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units, as well as seven three-bedroom townhouse offerings with their own fenced yard.

“Rents vary based on income and unit size, starting at $445 for a studio. Rents are subsidized for 70 per cent of the units in the building, so that rent is set at 30 per cent of gross monthly income. The remainder of the units are at market rent for people with moderate incomes, ranging from $1,100 for a studio, to $2,200 for a three-bedroom unit,” the ministry statement read.

Owned by Qualicum-Parksville Kiwanis Housing Society, the $22 million facility was fully funded through the province’s Building BC: Community Housing Fund.

“The building opened in May 2025 and is accepting rental applications,” the release noted.

Additional details on Residences at Qualicum Station is available through the Qualicum-Parksville Kiwanis Housing Society website linked here, which includes online applications for interested tenants.

With an average single-family home valuation of $920,000 in Qualicum Beach as of July 1, 2024, Qualicum Beach is one of the least affordable housing markets on Vancouver Island.
