Port expands Dock++
The size of Dock Plus is multiplying after the provincial government has contributed almost $3 million to the seafood-focussed food hub.
Port Alberni Port Authority CEO Zoran Knezevich said Dock Plus has become a model for the 13 other food hubs around BC.
“We are very fortunate to bring the partnership of Nova Harvest and Huu-ay-aht First Nation along with the provincial government’s significant support”, he said. “It is also testament of how successful we are and Dock Plus is, as I believe it is one of the 13 food hubs initiated by the provincial government that is a flagship for all and showing a lot of potential growth.”
The 3600 square foot food processing space being built beside the former Port Fish facility will house a $2 million specialty machine that shucks oysters with air pressure.
