Tom Verbrugge has been elected to city council, replacing John Douglas who died this past summer.

Verbrugge narrowly beat Debra Hamilton with 599 votes to her 551.

He did not participate in the recent all-candidates debate, choosing instead to speak with people who came out to his Christmas tree farm.

Less than 10% of eligible voters participated in the by-election despite 4 different opportunities to vote.

5 candidates were competing to serve on city council for the next 2 years.
