BC funds forest road improvements
Improvements to the Canal Main Forest Service Road between Port Alberni and Uchucklesaht lands will benefit both communities.
BC announced funding to improve road surfacing and build new bridges and open new opportunities for recreation and tourism.
Uchucklesaht Deputy CAO Ryan Anaka says it will have long-term benefits for the First Nation.
“We’re really happy to work collaboratively with the province and excited to see an improved Canal Main and improved on a regular basis and then also really excited to get our own equipment and get some of our citizens trained to allow for work to occur within our land and our traditional territory on the roads and allow us to have the opportunity to look at provincial bid opportunities for further road maintainance and work together with some of the existing forestry road contractors in Port Alberni,” he said.
