Alberni leaders at AVICC
Municipal and regional district leaders from throughout Vancouver Island will be in Victoria this weekend for the annual Association of Vancouver Island & Coastal Communities Convention.
The City of Port Alberni has 5 of the 57 resolutions for the convention to vote on, including Pre-hospital care and the equitable funding of police and library services.
The Alberni-Clayoquot has 2 resolutions including calls for emergency routes for communities with only one major access road.
According to the ACRD, last summer’s lengthy closure of Highway 4 due to a wildfire affected the health, safety and well-being of residents, and had devastating economic impacts that included job loss and permanent business closures.
