NANAIMO — Mounties are looking to identify a woman who casually stole a parcel from a central Nanaimo home recently.

Security video showed a blonde woman in her 30’s approach the front door of a home in central Nanaimo around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Cst. Gary O’Brien said she picked up a parcel which had been left by a delivery driver an hour prior.

“This is quite odd, often what the porch pirates will do is follow a courier truck throughout the city. This may have just been someone circling the area looking for parcels on doorsteps.”

The woman has long, blonde hair and left in a small, blue four door vehicle.

“These are going to continue through the holidays so we’re hoping people will not leave parcels unattended on their front step. You might as well just be throwing your money away.”

Police recommend having parcels delivered to a friend’s place who will be home, or your workplace.
