JUNE 6, 1955 ~ MARCH 25, 2018 (AGE 62)
GAYLE PATRICIA MALLETT (nee Sproule)
of Qualicum Beach, formerly Nanaimo, High River, and Calgary
June 6, 1955 to March 23 2018.
She passed away peacefully in Nanaimo hospital after a tough battle with a particularly nasty cancer. She was 63 years of age.
Predeceased by her sister, Janice Besuyen and her parents, John D. and Mary Sproule.
Sadly missed by husband, Richard, of 38 years; brother Bob Sproule (Dee) and their extended family;. sister Janice’s (deceased) extended family; extended family on Richards side: Ken (Terrie) Mallett and family; Howard (Brenda) Mallett and family; and Elizabeth (Doug) Mallett and family.
She will be sadly missed by her dearest friend, Dee.
She was born in Edmonton. She attended high school in Ottawa.
Gayle worked at Qualicum Foods in Qualicum Beach for 12 years. She was the first woman hired in their produce department. (she ruled the roost!!)
Before that she worked at Seafun Divers in Nanaimo and earlier worked for the Canadian Red Cross Blood Donor lab (in Calgary) for a number of years.
Gayle was a fierce Scrabble player, and did a mean cross-word puzzle. She loved to knit, crochet, and sew, do woodwork, and loved her yard and garden. In her spare time she liked to comb antique malls. (as anyone who has been to our home can attest!!) She took up scuba diving , with many logged dives, learned to ski, loved to fly (as co-pilot!!) and go on motorcycle trips (also as co-pilot!)
She loved her extended Quality Foods family. Our thanks to you all for being her friend! She was one of very few people that truly loved her job. Special thanks to John B. and Lyell.
She requested no muss, no fuss and no service as such. There will be a Celebration of Life, date to be announced .
Gayle was an amazing, sweet soul.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
