Nanaimo food bank hoping to gather $70K of food in donation drive
NANAIMO — This weekend, the Nanaimo Loaves and Fishes food bank is depending on Nanaimo residents to help them have enough food to last until Christmas.
On Saturday, food bank volunteers will travel all over Nanaimo picking up bags of food left on doorsteps. Twelve thousand bags were handed out this year, to be packed with goods from generous residents.
Loaves and Fishes executive director Peter Sinclair told NanaimoNewsNOW this is their second biggest food drive of the year.
“As we plan our annual cycles, we depend on the food that comes in through this food drive to get us through until Christmas. It’s a big part of what we do and we’re really thankful the community gets behind it.”
