POWELL RIVER — The Clippers dropped the second game in their road double header against the Kings on Saturday.

The game followed the exact scoreline as their contest on Friday night with the Kings scoring first, Nanaimo getting two straight, and Powell River scoring the final three goals.

In the first period the Kings opened the scoring on a power play goal by Ryan Brushett, and the Clippers answered with Blake Bonnar’s first BCHL goal.

Jordan Dawson spun a power play goal off the blocker of Mitch Adamyk, up and over the goaltender and in to give the Clippers a 2-1 advantage early in the second.

The Kings rallied with three straight goals to close the period.

Ryan Brushett slipped a puck past Nanaimo’s Landon Pavlisin to even the score at two before a pair of late second period goals by Kyle Kawamura and Neal Samanski.

There was no scoring in the third.

The Clippers went 1/3 on the power play and the Kings finished 1/5.

Saturday’s Three Stars were Ryan Brushett (2g 1a), Neal Samanski (1g), and Tyler Williams (2a).

Williams set up both Clipper goals on the night.

The loss drops Nanaimo’s record to 1-3 as they get ready for a very busy week.

They play Vernon Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and West Kelowna Friday at 1 p.m. both at the BCHL Showcase.

Then on Sunday September 23rd Nanaimo returns home to play the Victoria Grizzlies in a 2 p.m. matinee.
