RIO, BRAZIL — Parksville’s Michelle Stilwell has added another medal to her prolific Paralympic resume.
The local MLA captured her second gold medal in Rio Saturday morning, setting a new Paralympic record of 19.42 seconds in the 100-metre race.
It’s the seventh career Paralympic medal (six gold and a silver) for the 42-year-old, who also set a record in the 400-metre race last weekend.
This win comes an impressive 16 years after Stilwell first won a gold medal in Sydney in 2000 with the wheelchair basketball team.
