Port Alberni wins Hometown Takeover

Port Alberni is going to play host to HGTV’s Hometown Takeover.

The announcement was made this morning at the Harbour Quay by HGTV hosts Brian and Sara Bauemler and Erin and Ben Napier in front of hundreds of cheering residents.

City of Port Alberni Economic Development Manager Pat Deakin has been working with the HGTV crews for the past 10 months, and was as excited as anyone about the announcement.

“It’s very emotional. I’m very grateful. Tthis community really has come together,” he said. “They looked for a community that was resilient and had a big heart, and we gave that to them in spades.”
