NANAIMO — The Clippers and Chiefs put on a great show with Nanaimo grabbing a 5-4 overtime victory.

The first period was a back and forth affair and the teams traded goals.

Twice Chilliwack took the lead on goals by Markuss Sieradzkis and Koby Francis while Will Subject and Tanner Bruender brought the Clippers back to even.

In his first game in Nanaimo, Drew Roelofs scored to give the Clippers a lead going into the first intermission.

The Chiefs turned the game in the middle period on tallies from Reese Shaw and Sieradzkis with his second of the game.

Goalies Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau of the Clippers and Vladislav Brygalov took over from there stopping everything until the final minute.

Sam Boisvert tied the game at 4-4 with the Clippers playing with an empty net and an extra attacker.

His dramatic goal forced overtime and set the stage for a memorable shift for Bruender.

In three on three OT Bruender had lost his stick, first he was able to make a huge shot block, then he recovered his stick and seconds later came streaking down the ice to get the game winner at 1:09 of the extra session.

Nanaimo outshot Chilliwack 29-27 overall with the Clippers going 0/4 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

The Clippers next play the Surrey Eagles on the road on Feb. 22 at 4 p.m.
