Campus of Care community at Capitol
More than 100 people gathered at the Capitol Theatre last night to hear about a plan to bring more doctors and healthcare services to the Alberni Valley.
Dr. Mark Lambiotte called the current prognosis for health care in the Valley “bleak”, as 4 doctors are set to retire leaving thousands of people without a family physician.
The plan is to build a 3-storey, 10,000 square foot Campus Of Care on the 17 acres of city owned lands behind Staples off Cherry Creek Road.
Led by the Alberni Healthcare Fund Society, Community Futures and the Alberni Low Energy Housing Society, the complex will provide space for Doctors and health specialists to have a workspace without having to run a business.
