Clippers fall in overtime to Spruce Kings

Feb 7, 2026 | 1:27 AM

The Clippers earned a point out of a back and forth game with Prince George.

After a scoreless first period the two teams traded early second period power play markers.

Michael Denney tipped a point shot behind Matthew Hutchison and then Nanaimo’s Sam Boisvert countered just over a minute later with a wicked shot off of an offensive zone faceoff.

Indiana Grossbard gave the Clippers a short lived lead halfway through the middle frame only to have Nick Bianchi tie the game 31 seconds later.

The teams went to the final period tied at two until Tanner Bruender cashed in on a Nanaimo man advantage.

The Spruce Kings earned a power play goal of their own on a deflection off the stick of Ryan Wachtel.

Nanaimo had a power play in overtime but failed to score and then Prince George capitalized on a two on one with Bianchi netting his second goal of the night.

The Clippers outshot the Spruce Kings 44-32 while going 2/5 on the power play and giving up two goals on three Prince George man advantages.

Nanaimo finished their season series with the Spruce Kings with an 0-3-1 record but they gained a point on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs to expand their hold on second place in the Coastal West division to five points.

On Feb. 7 the Clippers hit the road for their next game in Powell River.
