Suspect sought after south Nanaimo assault left man with life-threatening injuries

NANAIMO — Mounties are looking for a suspect after a man was found severely injured in the city’s south end.

Police say just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, a 62-year-old man was found unresponsive in an alley between Shepherd Ave. and Georgia Ave., south of Fifth St. in south Nanaimo, believed to be the victim of an assault.

Emergency crews responded, including Police Dog Service, and the victim was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the assault may have occurred some time before the victim was located.
