Wind storm cuts power for nearly 3,900 properties through Nanaimo
NANAIMO — Forecasted gusty winds have come as advertised and are causing some minor headaches.
A pair of outages for an estimated 3,874 BC Hydro customers, likely related to a Pacific frontal system moving through with heavy rain and strong wind, affected residents in central and north Nanaimo on Thursday, Nov. 6.
One outage occurred just before 2 p.m. and impacted residents and businesses in the Wellington, Brannen Lake neighbourhoods, totally 2,565 BC Hydro customers.
A second storm-linked outage happened around 3:20 p.m. in north Nanaimo, affecting the commercial centre around Aulds Rd., including Woodgrove Centre, with over 1,200 customers affected.
